Give your bearded dragon a real slice of the outback. Our Bearded Dragon Bioactive Enclosure Kit includes a glass enclosure, arid substrate, a hot basking lamp, desert-strength UVB, hand-picked branches and live plants: everything a young dragon needs to bask, dig and grow strong.
Ideal for: Juvenile and sub-adult central bearded dragons, and pygmy bearded dragons for life.
Choose your size
- 90x45x45cm ($750): Juvenile dragons and adult pygmy bearded dragons. Plan to upgrade a central bearded dragon as it grows.
- 120x60x60cm ($920): Grows with your dragon. 120x60x60cm is the recommended minimum for an adult central bearded dragon.

Why choose a bioactive bearded dragon enclosure?
A bioactive enclosure is a living habitat: live plants, natural substrate and leaf litter or moss work together like a slice of the wild. It holds humidity more steadily than a bare tank, gives your animal room to dig, climb and hide, and looks like a piece of nature in your home. Setting up your bearded dragon enclosure
- Temperature: basking spot 38–42°C, cool end 24–28°C, night 18–22°C. Run heat through a thermostat.
- Humidity: low, around 30–40%.
- Lighting: strong UVB across half the enclosure for 12 hours a day. UVB is essential for bearded dragons.
- Diet: dust insects with the included Calcium + D3 and offer fresh greens daily.

Bearded dragon enclosure kit FAQ
What size tank does a bearded dragon need?
Juveniles can start in 90x45x60cm, but an adult central bearded dragon needs at least 120x60x60cm. Choose the larger kit to avoid upgrading later.
Do bearded dragons need UVB?
Yes. Without strong UVB they can't use calcium properly, which can lead to metabolic bone disease. This kit includes desert-strength UVB.
Can a bearded dragon have a bioactive enclosure?
Yes. Arid bioactive enclosures use a sand and soil substrate, hardy plants and dry-tolerant clean-up crews such as powder blue isopods.
Pairs well with: Central Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps), Electronic Reptile Thermostat, Powder Blue Isopods (Porcellionides pruinosus), Feeder Woodies.
Supplies ship within 1 to 2 business days, depending on stock, and usually arrive 1 to 3 days after dispatch.
Live animals ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only, so they are never in transit over a weekend. Order by 11am Sunday to ship that week. Orders containing a live animal ship together on the next live dispatch day.
We hold live animal orders during very hot or very cold weather and ship them once conditions are safe. We’ll let you know if your order is held.
We ship Australia-wide. Live animals cannot be shipped to the Northern Territory or Tasmania.

Our Surry Hills store is small, so we keep in-store stock deliberately limited. Not everything online is on the shelf, so call us on (02) 7813 9640 before visiting for a specific item.
All reptiles and amphibians are sold online only, due to permit requirements.

Every live animal is checked before it leaves us and packed by an experienced keeper.
If your animal arrives dead, contact us within one hour of delivery with a photo, and we will send a replacement. You don’t pay shipping on the replacement. Photo helps us identify what caused death so we can help prevent it from happening again with your order, and others.
Someone needs to be home to receive the parcel. We can’t cover animals left at a depot, sent to an incorrect address, or reported more than an hour after delivery.
Reptiles and frogs: most states require a licence before you buy. After ordering, email your licence details to info@biotastudio.com.au or add them to your order notes. If we don’t have them, we’ll contact you by SMS or email before your order ships.
Insects, spiders and supplies: most don’t need a licence, but rules vary by state and species.
