Dragon springtails are among Australia’s giant springtails. They’re chunky, long-antennaed and lined with bright, spiky projections that give them their dragon look. In the wild they’re known only from the cool forests of Victoria and Tasmania, where they live in and under rotting logs and graze on slime moulds and fungi. They’re a collector’s springtail for display, not a mass-produced clean-up crew.

Sourced from Australian breeders and shipped live every Monday and Tuesday (excluding NT and Tasmania).

Dragon Springtail Care Guide for Beginners

Experience level: Intermediate

Adult size: Several millimetres, much larger than common springtails

Lifespan: Colonies can persist long-term in stable, cool conditions

Enclosure: A small ventilated tub around 20 x 15 x 10cm with a piece of soft, rotting hardwood.
